In Which I Celebrate the Demise of My Social Life

You know you're getting old-er when more and more you become ruminative about your life and the many stages you had to go through to get to where you are now. Possibly not too far from where and when life started for you - If indeed it has, congratulations! If it hasn't, then please get them butt movin'! - but sometimes, one can only take comfort in the fact that there's still a million and one chances to make something out of life...for as long as one's breathing and occupying Earth space.

I dunno what the heck I'm blabbering about here but this is how this whole rumination thing started.

This coming Friday will be my Dad's 5th death anniversary.  And usually, when anniversaries of this kind penetrate my consciousness, I become understandably curious about my own death. Like when it'll happen and how. And will there be a lot of people mourning my demise somehow?

I was telling Abie over lunch today that up until the day I crossed the 30th year mark (i'm talking about my age here), I was never overly concerned about people passing - including myself. Seeing as I am pathologically engrossed with the present, I guess you could say it's such a big deal for me to even be that forward-thinking. Oh but there's no escaping random thoughts, you see.

So anyway, my mood was such that when I had a bit of downtime after lunch, I went through all my digital photo folders and found myself inextricably drawn to some of my 2008 (mis) adventures with close friends.

Yes, exactly two years and more or less 15lbs ago.

Since then, a lot of things have happened. Sepid has gone back to Iran, though at least once a year she'd come home for a visit. Joie has gotten so engrossed with digital photography and taking care of her baby niece. Noel, who I still spend most of my time with (we work together and now even live in the same residential building!), is actively pursuing fashion and lifestyle photography among other things. And myself? Well, I'm actively pursuing someone, errrrr, career/professional advancement and health & fitness, I meant to say.

Have I mentioned I am now down to less than 100lbs?
